Introduction

An Activity is a chat-based task designed to provide interactive language practice for students. It can be accessed via a web browser, WhatsApp, or Telegram. Once initiated, the activity requires a specific number of interactions or answers to be considered complete. Upon completion, the activity's details are saved to the teacher's dashboard for future reference.

 

Before Creating an Activity

Before creating an activity, please ensure that the following information is readily available:

  1. Student Profile: You should have create the student profile.
  2. Language Level: A clear understanding of the student's current language proficiency level (e.g., A1, A2, B1, etc.).
  3. Study Subject: The specific language skill or topic the activity should focus on (e.g., past continuous, present perfect, phrasal verbs, business vocabulary, academic writing).
  4. Theme: A relevant theme or context to frame the activity (e.g., travel, family, work).

 

Creating a New Activity

To create a new activity, you'll need to provide the following information:

  • Language: The target language of the activity.
  • Level: The student's language level.
  • Study Subject: The specific skill or topic to be practiced.
  • Theme: The overall theme or context of the activity.
  • Activity Mode:
    • Practice: Allows students to practice as many times as they'd like without formal evaluation.
    • Evaluation: Limits the number of attempts and tracks student performance for assessment.
  • Allowed Attempts: The maximum number of times a student can attempt the activity.
  • Type of Activity:
    • Multiple Choice: Students select the correct answer from a given set of options.
    • Fill-in-the-Blank: Students provide the missing word or phrase to complete a sentence or paragraph.
    • Free Chat: Students engage in a free-flowing conversation with Yapaling.
  • Quantity: The number of interactions or questions required to complete the activity.

Advanced options

  • Personal Message to Student: A personalized message to welcome the student to the activity.
  • Instant Feedback: Whether to provide immediate feedback to the student after each response.
  • Special Instructions for AI: Specific guidelines for the AI to tailor the activity to the student's needs. For example, you can specify details of the topics to cover. For example "Impersonate a HR recruiter of a Car Sales company, asking typical question such as How you reacted when a customer wanted to talk with your supervisor"
  • Use a Study Text: The option to incorporate a specific text as the basis for the activity. This can be useful for comprehension-based activities or for practicing specific vocabulary or grammar points. You should carefully consider the text length, as reading long texts in WhatsApp or mobile devices could be detrimental to the student learning experience

 

Viewing and Editing an Activity

Once an activity is created, you can view and edit its details, including:

  • Status: The current status of the activity (Started, Finished, or Ongoing).
  • Attempt Count: The number of times the student has attempted the activity.
  • Results: The student's responses to the activity's prompts.
  • AI Feedback: AI-generated feedback on the student's performance.
  • Instructor Evaluation: Your own evaluation and comments on the activity for further use and reporting.

By carefully considering these factors and utilizing the features provided, you can create effective and engaging language learning activities for your students.
